Grimsby data recovery. Catch records, cold-store logs, a clicking external; all on one disk.

Grimsby had 86,138 residents at the 2021 census. It is the administrative centre of North East Lincolnshire, and it is in Lincolnshire, not Yorkshire, whatever the regional statistics get called. The work here sits on disks: catch-origin and cold-chain records at a processor, the warehouse system that knows where every pallet is, turbine inspection footage brought back to the Royal Dock, forty years of photographs on one external drive at home. Post it tracked, and we charge nothing to look at it.

What Grimsby brings to the bench.

Out on the A180, then the M62The run to the Leeds bench is the A180 west, the M180, the M18 north at junction 5 and then the M62 — no Humber Bridge and no toll on it. Better still, let the courier drive it.
Records with no copyCatch-origin paperwork at a processor, the temperature log for one night in a cold store, damage photographs of a car off the ship at Alexandra Dock. An auditor or a claim will want them.
When the screens lock upThe businesses it hurts most are the small ones around the docks and the food plants, where the backup lives on the same network as everything it is meant to protect. Take a picture of the note, pull the network lead out, and ring us before anybody reboots.
One figure, in writing, up frontAudited businesses need paperwork that reconciles. You get one written figure agreed before any work starts, a listing of every file that came home, and an invoice nobody has to explain afterwards.

Questions we get from Grimsby.

Grimsby is over the water in Lincolnshire. Is it covered?

Yes, and nothing has to cross the Humber. Media goes to the intake lab in Leeds — post it tracked, or drive it over on the A180, M180, M18 and M62, which crosses no toll bridge. It is assessed free the day it lands, and the postage home is ours.

Our RAID has dropped two members. What do we do?

Power it down and leave it down. Do not let the controller rebuild. Writing onto a member that was already on its way out is how a set that could have been saved stops being one. Note which bay each disk sat in, post them bare, and each is imaged before anything is put back together.

Our traceability and cold-chain logs sat on one PC. Can they be read?

Usually. Temperature records, HACCP files and catch paperwork tend to live on one office machine that nobody thought to add to the backup, and an auditor will still want them. Take the disk out, leave the machine where it is, and send that drive by itself.

Will anyone come and pick a drive up here?

No. There is no van and there never has been. Insured tracked post is quicker than a driver stuck on the M62, and you can drop one in at the Leeds lab yourself on a weekday, if driving suits you better. Ring first if the item is awkward and we will settle the packing between us.

Post it from Grimsby. Work starts when it lands.

Leave it switched off. Tell us what happened. Nothing gets agreed before the free diagnosis has said what it is.
