Usually, yes. We do not ever write data to your disk. We always make a copy of your disk first and work from the copy. All files on your disk, including CAD drawings, cutting lists and the programs that run the saws, fail just as they would on any other disk. Any active jobs will be copied first if you let us know which ones are running. A fixed price is agreed in writing prior to commencing any work. At the completion of all work, an itemised list will be provided showing specifically what was returned.
A NAS started to rebuild and then stopped dead. Should I switch it off?
Yes, turn it off. A rebuild requires reading each sector of all disks that are still viable. Reading these sectors is the stress that will kill a tired disk. Stalling during a rebuild often leaves you in a worse position than when you began. Disconnect the power. Write the bay number on each disk. Get a quote first, either over the telephone or using the form, and post only the bare disks via tracked and insured postal services to the Leeds intake lab, or drop them off there (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, no appointment needed). The empty box can remain at its current location. If you cannot remove the disks, please send the entire NAS instead.
Can I bring a drive in to you in Barton-upon-Humber?
