PE25 · Skegness and Ingoldmells

Data recovery in Skegness. A short season, the booking system on one PC, usually no copy.

Skegness had 21,128 people at the 2021 census, the largest settlement in East Lindsey, and in the East Midlands, not the Humber. The trade is holidays: Butlin's at Ingoldmells, just north of Skegness, where Billy Butlin opened the first camp in 1936; Fantasy Island beside it; the pier, 387 feet of it; and the parks, over 100,000 caravans and chalets along this coast by 1986. Behind it all, growers and packers. That lot runs on booking databases, tills, inspection records and photographs, and most of it sits on one office disk. There is no direct train to Hull or Leeds and no counter to visit anyway. It goes by post, and the look is free.

Sending it to us: send it to the intake lab by insured, tracked post, with a printed shipping form enclosed in the box. We cover the postage back. Packing it properly is covered on the sending page.

Four things worth knowing.

Why it goes by postThere is no counter here or anywhere else, and Skegness is a long way from both Hull and Leeds by road. The A158 is single carriageway almost the whole way to Lincoln and it fills up in summer. The trains go to Nottingham, not to Leeds. So the parcel travels and you do not.
The business is on one diskParks, guest houses, arcades and caterers mostly run on a single office machine, often on software that has been on it for a decade. Bookings, takings, owner records and the accounts are all on the one disk. When it starts to sound different, that is the warning.
Tell us when you openA drive that fails in March is a different job from one that fails in November, and it is treated that way. Say when you open and what is waiting behind it.
What you payThe assessment is free. The price is put in writing before work starts and does not change. From £250 plus VAT for cards and sticks, £300 plus VAT for a drive. Most jobs run no recovery, no fee. Return postage is on us.

What one customer wrote.

All eight, in their words →

Thanks to a very nasty malware ransomware virus, I thought all my business files were lost for good. Luckily for me I searched for data recovery services near me to recover lost files and found Hull Data Recovery. I simply popped the infected laptop in for a service and it was returned as good as new and with all files recovered. I could not be happier.

Glenn Watson · Skegness

Asked from the coast.

Do you cover Ingoldmells and the parks?

Yes. Ingoldmells and Chapel St Leonards are part of the same built-up area, and the parks along the A52 count with them, as do the growers and packers inland. Where you are makes no difference to the price or the queue, because nothing is collected. Media goes to the Leeds lab by tracked post and comes back the same way, at our cost.

The park's booking database is on a PC that will not boot. Is it gone?

Usually not. Most booking software keeps its database as files on that machine's own disk, so it is the disk that matters, not the PC. Do not reinstall anything, and do not let a shop have a go at it first. Send the drive, or the whole machine, and say which program it runs.

We open at Easter and the office machine has died. Can it be rushed?

Tell us at booking. Urgent cases are imaged first rather than fitted around the rest of the day, and here that matters - a failure in March is not the same problem as one in November. You still get one fixed price in writing before anything starts, and a real date once the drive has been read.

How long does it take, posting from here?

Every parcel is assessed the day it lands, and the fixed price is set right after. Logical faults - deleted files, a corrupt file system, a formatted card - are often finished within a few days. Mechanical ones wait on donor parts and take longer. You are told which of the two it is before anything else.

Send it from Skegness. We take it from there.

Leave it switched off. Tell us what happened. Nothing gets agreed before the free diagnosis has said what it is.
