M180 corridor · Scunthorpe

Data recovery, Scunthorpe. Decades of drawings on one server, no copy anywhere else.

Scunthorpe had 81,286 people at the 2021 census, the third most populous place in Lincolnshire after Lincoln and Grimsby, sitting a mile east of the Trent. The steelworks remains the town's defining employer, and around it are the firms that supply it: fabricators, machinists, NDT and maintenance contractors, stockholders, hauliers. Co-op Wholesale is headquartered here with one of its ambient distribution centres, and Wren Kitchens has one of its three factories in the town. The work follows that pattern - CAD and CNC files, inspection records, a warehouse system, tachograph downloads, a farm office on the Isle of Axholme, a practice server, an external drive of photographs. The look costs nothing, and the price is fixed in writing first.

A repair shop is not a recovery labFitting a new screen or a new board gets the machine working again. Neither does a thing for a disk that has stopped answering; that is a different bench and a different set of tools. Laptops and external drives turn up here every week after a shop has said there was no point.
When there is only the one copyWhere a drive is the only copy, we work slower on purpose. It is imaged in full before anyone tries anything on the drive itself, and what comes back is checked against your list of what matters. Nothing is attempted that would cost you the reads left in it.
When the work has stoppedA firm shut out of its orders, its drawings or its ledgers loses money by the hour. Work like that is imaged first, and you get a date that holds.
About a day in the post to LeedsA tracked parcel posted in the town - Ashby, Bottesford, Brumby, anywhere - is usually with the lab the next working day. Nothing is charged to look at it, and the return leg is ours.

Many thanks to Hull Data Recovery and your data recovery engineers on the recent recovery of the HP RAID-5 data belonging to our client.

Four questions we are asked here.

You have no office in Scunthorpe. Does that matter?

No. There is no counter anywhere. Imaging kit, donor parts and the bench all sit at the Leeds lab, and splitting them between shops would only make each one worse. Post it tracked, or drive it: M180 west, M18 north, M62. The toll is only on the Hull road.

Our drawings are commercially sensitive. Is that a problem?

No. Devices are logged against a case number, never the company's name. Only the files the recovery needs get opened, nothing is passed to anyone else, and the working copies are wiped with written confirmation to you.

A repair shop told us the drive was finished. Is it?

Often it is not. Getting a computer working again and reading a disk that has stopped answering are separate trades on separate kit. Drives reach us most weeks after someone has written them off, and plenty of them still read once they are on the right bench.

Is it dearer because we are in Scunthorpe?

No. Nothing is charged to look at it. One fixed figure goes to you in writing before a drive is opened, and you can turn it down. Most work runs no recovery, no fee, and return postage is included wherever the parcel started.

Post it from Scunthorpe. You get a straight answer.

Leave it switched off. Tell us what happened. Nothing gets agreed before the free diagnosis has said what it is.
